Where Hollywood Cameto Fall in Lovewith the Mediterranean.
An Art Nouveau villa perched above Isola Bella, where Marlene Dietrich once watched the sun set over the Ionian Sea. The same terraces, the same light, the same intoxicating view of Etna rising behind the bay — and now it's your wedding day. You need a photographer who has already memorised every angle.
Villa Mon Repos occupies a peculiar place in Taormina's history. It was built as a private retreat, became the town's first casino during the golden age of Italian cinema, hosted Gregory Peck and Cary Grant at the same bar — and then, quietly, returned to what it was always meant to be: a place where people come to rest above one of the most photographed coastlines in Europe.
The Park of Olives surrounding the villa creates a light unlike the manicured gardens of most venues. It's dappled, organic, constantly shifting. The Ionian Sea below catches the afternoon sun and throws it back up through the olive canopy in patterns that change every twenty minutes. And then there's Etna — always there, always different depending on the hour and the haze.
What I bring to your Mon Repos wedding: the understanding that this venue doesn't need dramatic angles or forced compositions. It needs a photographer who knows when the infinity pool reflects the sky perfectly, where the Art Nouveau mouldings frame a portrait naturally, and which terrace Dietrich loved — because the light there hasn't changed in sixty years.
I Know How Taormina's Light Moves
The Ionian coast doesn't behave like the rest of Sicily. The light arrives from the east, reflects off the sea below, and filters through the olive canopy in ways that change dramatically by the hour. I've studied these patterns across every season — your timeline is built around the moments that matter most.
"Alex told us exactly when to step onto the terrace. The light was unbelievable — and he'd planned for it." — Emily & James, United Kingdom
Present, Never Performing
Mon Repos has an intimate, unhurried quality that most venues can't replicate. Your celebration will feel personal and unguarded — and my approach mirrors that. I move through the day without directing, without interrupting, capturing the moments that happen when nobody thinks the camera is watching.
"We wanted documentary-style coverage, and Alex delivered beyond anything we imagined." — Sarah & Marco, USA / Italy
Film Grain Meets Art Nouveau
Kodak Portra and Villa Mon Repos were made for each other. The warm tones of analog film complement the Belle Époque architecture in a way that digital alone can't replicate — the mouldings, the wrought iron, the terracotta tones of the original villa all come alive on film. Your album will feel like it was always part of this place.
"The film photos feel timeless — like they could have been taken when the villa was first built." — Laura & David, Australia
Your guests are flying in from across the world to one of the most storied towns in the Mediterranean. Give them a weekend worth remembering.
The welcome dinner on the villa's lower terrace with Etna glowing in the distance and local wines from the volcanic slopes. A morning walk through Taormina's medieval streets to the Greek Theatre with the sea shimmering below. An afternoon boat ride to Isola Bella, just the two of you, the turquoise water, and nothing to do but be together.
I photograph all of it — because the most honest images often come from the moments between the formal ones. The laughter at the welcome dinner, the quiet moment on the boat, the expression on your face when you first see Etna lit by sunrise.

This Work
Hi, I'm Alex. I fell in love with wedding photography not because of cameras or compositions — but because of people.
There's something sacred about being invited into someone's most important day. The nervousness before the ceremony. The father's eyes when he sees his daughter. The way you two look at each other when no one's watching.
That's what makes me feel alive.
I grew up in Sicily, surrounded by extraordinary light and endless stories. My approach is quiet, intuitive, human. You live your day — I capture it unfolding naturally.
Remaining
I accept a limited number of weddings each year to ensure every couple receives my full creative attention and bespoke service. Peak season dates fill 12–18 months in advance.
