Long before it hosted a single wedding, Villa Igiea was a home. At the turn of the century the Florio family — the dynasty that built modern Palermo — handed it to Ernesto Basile, and he answered in Art Nouveau: iron that curves like it's still growing, painted walls, rooms that open straight onto the water. The palazzo still stands above the Gulf of Palermo, and it is where your day begins.

Sala Basile
This is the room that gives the day its first frame. Ettore De Maria Bergler painted its Liberty frescoes straight onto the walls, and the light that reaches them is soft and lateral — the kind you get ready in without a single flash. It is where the details live: the dress on the hanger against the painted wall, the hands, the waiting.
Terrazza Mare
The terrace faces the open Gulf of Palermo. In the hour before the sun goes down — and in June that hour moves a little every day — the golden light settles over the water, then gives way to blue hour. Two different weddings in the same stretch of evening, if you know to be ready for both. This is the portrait light couples come to Villa Igiea for.
Belle Époque Ballroom
High ceilings, crystal chandeliers, marble floors. When the reception moves inside, the room does the lighting for you — the work is holding the warmth of the chandeliers and the faces underneath them in the same frame. This is where the first dance and the last one happen.
Tiered Gardens & Temple
The gardens step down toward the sea in tiers of Mediterranean greenery, with a stone temple set among them. It's the quietest corner of the grounds — where couples slip away from their own party for ten minutes, and where the two of you are finally alone in front of the lens.

Villa Igiea has its own answer to weather. The Belle Époque Ballroom and the Sala Basile are both indoors, and the villa moves the day into them when it needs to. I work inside whatever plan the villa sets — the light in those rooms is something I already know.
